The Institute of Public Health Koper headed by Director Milan Krek, MD Special medicine specialist , pursues the activities in the Koper health region, which encompasses the following municipalities: Koper, Izola, Piran, Hrpelje-Kozina, Divača, Sežana, Komen, Ilirska Bistrica, Pivka and Postojna.
The World Health Organisation and national health policy provide a direction to the Institute’s three basic areas of activity:
- social medicine,
- epidemiology,
- hygiene and health ecology
The main objectives set out in these programmes are improvement, protection and promotion of health care within the population.
